Why do the holidays feel so much harder when you’re a Type A woman who is grieving?
If you’re the one who usually plans, organizes and holds everything together, grief can make the holidays feel impossible to manage. The season asks more of you than any other time of year, and grief has left you with less to give. Join us for a free one-hour program, The Type A Grieving Woman and the Holidays, on Tuesday, December 8 at 4:30 PM.
What changes for a Type A woman after a death?
You’re used to managing everything and everyone. Grief changes how you think, function and feel. It affects memory, focus, decision-making and energy, so the lists and details you’ve always handled now take much more effort.
For many women we work with, the hardest part is the frustration. They compare themselves to who they were before the death and feel like they’re falling short.
Then the holidays arrive. There are more events, more decisions and more people. Traditions point to who isn’t there. Family may expect you to host, shop and show up the way you always have.
What will we talk about?
In one hour, we’ll cover:
The frustrations that come with being Type A and grieving at the same time
How to manage your own expectations, and everyone else’s, during the season
What grief does to everyday functioning, and practical strategies that help
Simple ways to include the person who died in your holidays
How to plan for the hard moments: before, during and after a family event
We’ll also show you how to use the GRIEF Ladies framework (Grounding, Rebuilding, Interacting, Evolving and Finding) to get through the season. You’ll leave with tools you can use right away.
